One of our loyal readers let us know that the Real Worlders are using the WSC on Connecticut Ave near the house. Read the email below to find out the details and then let management and corporate (800-565-2692) know how you feel.
My friend and I asked to speak to a manager. Here’s the scoop:
- The Sports Club corporate headquarters made the decision and passed it down to the General Manager, who is very sympathetic to her members, but can’t do much to change it.
- No Real World cast or crew member is allowed to speak to you while at the gym. Management promised me that they will be reminded of this.
- They are only using the Dupont Circle WSC location (great…)
- They are not allowed in the locker rooms or spa downstairs.
- The gym cannot tell members what is being film, when it is being film, etc. so even if you call and ask if they’re there, they can’t tell you. (This is apparently some legal issue)
- They will not film you, but the waiver has been signed by corporate, so they can film whenever they want in the building.
I’d encourage readers to ask to speak to management. Be polite, file a complaint, and then call the member service department: 800-565-2692
Also, report them every single time they speak to you or get in your way. They were told, according to management, that they are absolutely not to disturb the members.

oh this is gonna suck
that was the one i used when i didn’t feel like going to my home gym
womp!
Hey why you want a Real World DC no no good. Come back when you grow up? Do not deshrub gym guest. Ty.
Seriously? I mean SERIOUSLY? How on earth does this truly affect us as members of this club? IT DOESN’T!
It’s not like they can bring in fans to stand around and gawk at them working out…and it’s not like them being on a piece of equipment, being filmed, is in anyway going to prohibit us from working out.
We can still go about our daily routine, come in, get on equipment and work out and leave. Just because a camera may be pointed on someone else on a different piece of equipment doesn’t mean we can’t do what we always do. I mean, hell, they can’t film us, they can’t even TALK to us (which is ridiculous..if I’m on a piece of equipment and I feel like chatting with the person on the machine next to me, I should be able to, regardless of who that is), they can’t take showers even (again RIDICULOUS…how is one cast member coming in to shower after their work out, which would be sans cameras, affecting our showering and getting ready for our day, you know?)…
In an economy where restaurants, gyms, etc are truly hurting for business and can’t afford to advertise, as a community we should be embracing that, thanks to this show, establishments are getting FREE publicity and are having people attend, enroll, eat, drink etc at their places all because they might run into the cast. It brings in a HUGE influx of money into our community and our establishments, for which we should be grateful! The economy in this area is being invigorated simply because, not only tourists, but locals, are hoping to “catch a glimpse” of some piece of entertainment (much like when movies film, etc). That is a wonderful thing for these restaurants, etc. which are suffering financially.
Okay i can see how the bar could be a concern but the gym? No fights or anything that could affect anyone around break out there so what’s the problem?
I hate to say it but at this point it’s more like you’re harassing THEM!
Love the blog but idk about this one…
yeah i agree with cristin… this is one of those issues re gyms where i think: ok, if you need to have all the equipment to yourself, and you’re that bothered by people working out around you, then you need to buy a million dollar home and put a gym in the basement. real world or no real world.
i know you need a story for the blog, but calling sports club management is just being whiny. switch to one of the million other gyms in dc.
some of the male regulars at that particular WSC are creepy enough…
I was going to go on a rant like Anon or Cristin (love the spelling) but I don’t think I even have to. You talk about how these people come in invading your lives in DC but it’s so clear that you’re the one stalking theeeem. Get a life. So lame-oooo that you have this website… And I don’t think I see ad’s on your site so you’re throwing money away just to do what? Seem like a do-gooder (because that’s what we do in DC) for others? To be perfectly honest you and the rest of the NW GW trust fund babies (working for non-profits doing ‘good’) are all the same… lame ass hipster wannabee’s and you’re just sour because of the age restrictions on the show. Grow up and leave this behind you my dear.
